What is a good Brushless Motor Setup to run in the short course class? In the summer season, I race on a large outdoor track with lots of straightaways but poor traction and in the winter months, I run a smaller indoor track, with alot of bite. And can someone explain why it works for them? Any help would be great. Thanks

Our Answer

We like the Castle Creations 4600kV Sidewinder or Mamaba Max Motor/ESC combo. This motor will provide you with all the power you need and the ESC has all of the options and capabilities.

There are other good brushless motor options, check out our post - SC10 Brushless Motor Setups

With the release of the Factory Team SC10, Associated introduced their FT V2 Threaded Shocks. The Factory Team Shocks are upgrades from the shocks that came with your SC10 RTR. These shocks can be bought separately as a pair of rears or fronts.

Here are the new features of the FT V2's:

How many runs do you normally get out the tires on a Short Course Truck?

Our Answer

If you have Goosebumps or another soft compound tire, the rears will wear out in about 10-20 runs, depending on the surface. The fronts will last substantially longer (about twice as long), and we actually like the fronts to wear out a little to give the back-end more grip.

If you are using stock tires, those things will last a long time. The more you use them, the more they will soften up and they will actually run better on high traction tracks.

If you are racing, you need to have soft compounds in the back. We suggest buying one pair of rears for practice, and reserving another pair for racing only.
